| beyond6281 consists of 6 industrial 1000 watt light bulbs hung in the gallery,
powered by high-power audio amplifiers, and fed independent tracks of voices which
cause the bulbs to both illuminate and produce sound through the vibration of
their filaments. The tungsten and glass materials of the bulbs act as rich but
band-limited filters, resulting sometimes in understandable whispers, other times
purely synthetic tones, creating flowing and ebbing waves of light and sound. This installation has exhibited previously at Ars Electronica in Linz, Sonar in Barcelona, TransitioMX in Mexico City, and many other festivals and galleries around the world. |
