Show #12 is a two-person exhibition featuring
Kevin Bewersdorf from Austin and
Guthrie Lonergan from Los Angeles.
Kevin is a RISD alumni with a wide range of expertise including photography, painting,
video, cinema, music, and net art. His most recent work involves rendering photographs
and images from Google onto digitally printed gift items from
Walgreens.com and other
online retailers. In addition to his gallery work, Kevin is known for his film
work with director Joe Swanberg. Kevin co-wrote and starred in the critically
acclaimed indie film, LOL, The Movie,
which documents the disconnects and loneliness of modern super-networked culture.
Guthrie is an emerging new media artist based in LA whose
output is primarily web and
video-based. His work involves scraping the bottom of the Internet for material to
appropriate into poignant commentaries on our computer/media-based culture. Guthrie
is the primary founder of the Nasty Nets surf club, a group blog of Internet
archaeologists and artists who will be releasing a DVD compilation through
rhizome.org. In February, his work will be exhibited at the
New Museum
of Contemporary Art in New York for the exhibition Derivative Art: Montage on the Unmonumental Web.
